After the family gets evicted in traumatic fashion and moves into a motel, Garfield makes, in Bahrani’s words, “a deal with the devil.” He goes to work for the man who evicted his family, played by Michael Shannon, for a chance at earning enough to get a more permanent roof back over their heads. Obviously, there are some ostriches in Hawaii when there are thousands of forgeries and fraudulent documents that have been filed in its Bureau of Conveyances over the last 8 years, but the registrar says: “only a handful of bogus property deeds get thrown out by the courts every year.”
Maybe somebody ought to suggest a land record audit or just gather up all the foreclosure forgeries and sue the Bureau of Conveynances for ignoring fraud and total incompetence. Continue reading
It’s just an observation, but it certainly appears that foreclosure judges have been given orders to squash homeowners like a bug at the lower court level and if they can afford to appeal – maybe, just maybe, they might get some fair and balanced justice. The process so far has been highly unbalanced. Whether foreclosure judges are just not competent enough to understand the securitization, rehypothecation and securities scheme, or whether they’ve been told by higher-ups that if they don’t rule against homeowners all their pensions will be lost or the economy will crash – it’s just a bizarre and pathetic state of mind. Every day I hear more stories about alleged corruption in the courts, not only when it comes to foreclosures, but also bankruptcy – especially when families are trying to protect their homes. It is more than obvious that the system is flawed.
Judges are not necessarily adept, specifically educated or predisposed to this new form of securitization…these quasi-securities called NTMs (nontraditional mortgages). Most of us working in foreclosure defense find the foreclosure procedure despicable. The lies and fraudulent documents make our hearts ache and stomachs turn; and when a judge refuses to see the deceit – CORRUPTION lights up like a neon sign. It’s time we take over these land grab issues, hand them back to the states and ask the Governors and Legislators to reign in the courts and protect the constituents. This is not about a “free house” – which is pure bankster propaganda that is hard to overcome. This is about truth, integrity and honesty – none of the attributes that Wall Street banks possess these days.
