Remember Barack Obama’s “Yes we can” victory speech from Chicago’s Grant Park on Election Night 2008? Nearly three years later, what’s happened to the hope and promise of that November evening? For millions of American families struggling with foreclosure, it’s become nothing more than empty words and disappointment from an Administration that believes “Wall Street is our Main Street” and “foreclosures are good for the economy.” Their half-assed attempt to alleviate the foreclosure crisis, HAMP, has proved to be nothing more than a cruel
joke played on desperate Americans about to lose their homes. The modification shuffle is an endless maze of frustration. Fax the lenders reams of paperwork containing income, taxes, expenses, utility bill, insurance papers and more, but when you can’t produce that original application for the post office box you rented fifteen years ago you hear, “We’re sorry, you don’t qualify for a modification, but we’ll be happy to discuss a short sale.” And how many people actually see a HAMP modification? Not that many.
We now know that of the $45.6-billion set aside to aid homeowners, only a paltry $2-billion has actually been spent. Now Congress wants to use what’s left to pay down the debt and it appears the Administration is going to let it happen without a fight.
The President and his bankster-friendly cronies continue to refuse to do anything to help Americans facing foreclosure. The banks may be able to take their houses, but they can’t take their votes. The President wants us to re-elect him. When many Americans go to the polls next year, the cry may be, “No we can’t.”

I think there will be a lot more vote modifications than mortgage.
