How Soon They Think We Forget…

Obama Nominates Congressman to Lead Mortgage Agency

02housing-articleLargeWASHINGTON – President Obama on Wednesday nominated Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, to become the overseer of the government-backed mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

If approved by the Senate, Mr. Watt would replace Edward J. DeMarco, who has been acting director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency for more than three years.

Still, Mr. Watt is well known in Congress, and sits on the powerful House Financial Services Committee. He is also known for promoting lending to low-income and minority borrowers, but is not considered unfriendly to banks: financial firms and insurers are among his biggest donors, in no small part because Charlotte, part of which is in Mr. Watt’s district, is a major banking center. Should Mr. Watt fail to win Senate confirmation, the White House could name him as a recess appointment.

If that didn’t make your sick – this link surely will… here are Watt’s financial disclosures: http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/summary.php?cid=N00002328&cycle=Career

And then there was this action:

Obama Names Former Lobbyist Wheeler U.S. FCC Chairman

By Todd Shields & Jonathan D. Salant – May 1, 2013 10:33 AM GMT-1000

Wheeler FCCPresident Barack Obama named Tom Wheeler, a venture capitalist and former leader of cable and wireless trade groups, to head the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, where he may focus on nurturing mobile technology. [Well, the media’s all highly leveraged and basically owned by the banks anyway. — DC Ed.]

Wheeler, 67, managing director at Core Capital Partners LP in Washington, succeeds Chairman Julius Genachowski, a Democrat who has pushed to expand access to high-speed Internet service.

Senator Bernie Sanders, a Vermont independent, in an e-mailed statement asked whether Wheeler would support the “dangerous trend” toward greater media holdings by large companies.

“Before the Senate votes on Mr. Wheeler’s confirmation, the American people deserve to know where he stands,” Sanders said. “I also am troubled that President Obama would appoint the former head of two major industry lobbying associations to regulate the industry.”

Aren’t we all?!

  1. How much does it take to prosecute a president? Arms dealing? Bengazi? No, absolutely Zero prosecution of the banksters, only small potatoes and one homeowner that stretched the truth ( I am sure re the banks recommendation) since I have seen nothing but deceit from the banks and false promises and LIES, lies and more lies, i don’t believe that man did that on his own and if he did, the banks have the knowledge and ability to find he was stretching the truth. Income statements and checking account statements etc. This man was used and abused. Isn’t the Commander and Chief responsible for all below him? http://stopforeclosurefraud.com/2013/05/24/jon-stewart-tears-apart-obama-doj-for-prosecuting-whistleblowers-and-potheads-but-not-bankers/ WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE KIDDING?
